Event Details

The £300 Golden Hare Award is open to all entrants to the Edinburgh International Flash Fiction Award who are resident in Scotland at the time of entry and still resident in February 2020. If you qualify for the Golden Hare Award please tick the appropriate box on the entry form. Prize includes:

  • Trophy commemorating the Golden Hare Award Winner 2020

  • £300 prize

  • Invitation to participate in the Edinburgh Flash Awards Dinner to be held on Saturday 8 February 2020 at the Scottish Arts Club in Edinburgh.

  • A dedicated page on our website for all finalists to promote their writing.

  • Publication in our anthology

Deadlines

Entries for the 2020 competition are open from 1 July to 30 September 2019 (midnight UK time) with the awards presented in February 2020.

Chief judge sandra ireland

Author Sandra Ireland is the chief judge for the flash fiction competition. She is an award winning poet and critically acclaimed author of ‘The Unmaking of Ellie Rook’, ‘Beneath the Skin’ , and ‘Bone Deep’ as well as the first winner of the Scottish Arts Club Short Story Competition. Sandra is assisted in the earlier rounds of the competition by a team of experienced readers.

The entry fee is £6 per story. Writers may enter as many times as they wish. All funds raised are used to support the arts in Scotland.
