Event Details

To mark Habinteg’s half century of leadership in accessible and adaptable housing, we are launching an anniversary essay competition to consider what the next 50 years of accessible and inclusive homes and neighbourhoods might be like.

The Habinteg 2020 Prize competition is open to both academic and non-academic entries. Disabled people are particularly encouraged to enter, as well as students of subjects such as disability studies, occupational therapy, architecture or inclusive design.

The prize competition is sponsored by the Borwick Charitable Trust whose chair, Lord Jamie Borwick, will lead the judging panel.

Entries are welcome from any resident of the UK or overseas student studying at a UK institution. Essays should be no longer than 2000 words long and need to be written in English.

The winning entry will benefit from a £2500 cash prize with a £500 runner up prize. The winner will also have the opportunity to take up a weeklong placement with the Centre for Accessible Environments.

The winning entry will be announced at a celebration reception in the Palace of Westminster in June 2020.

The competition opens formally on 13 January 2020 and entries must be submitted by Monday 27 April 2020.
