Event Details

The contest is open to all writers who have not yet published a book of fiction. Submissions must be 1,200 words or fewer. Mia Alvar, whose collection of short stories, In the Country, won the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction, and whose work has appeared in the New York Times Book Review, One Story, the Missouri Review, the Cincinnati Review, and elsewhere, will be the final judge. The Kenyon Review will publish the winning short story in the Jan/Feb 2020 issue, and the author will be awarded a scholarship to attend the 2019 Writers Workshop in Gambier, Ohio.
